We are Convocation Research + Design :)
Our work looks to protect people and organisations navigating hostile digital spaces. We approach privacy and security as human rights, combining research, security practice and human-centred technology design to understand risks and build safer ways of working and communicating.
Our work sits across three connected areas: ++Research, ++Security and Technology.
Through Research, we investigate the intersection between technology and human rights. We use methods including open-source intelligence, digital ethnography, community-centred research, policy analysis and digital investigations to understand complex systems and the experiences of the people affected by them.
Through Security, we support individuals and organisations facing elevated risks. This can include rapid response, threat assessments, digital privacy and disappearance, and strategies for protecting people, information and other assets. Our aim is to respond to harm and help people operate more safely and securely over time.
Through Technology, we examine how digital tools work, who they serve and what harms they might create. We combine technical expertise with user-centred design to research, audit and build technology that is secure, usable, ethical and responsive to the people who rely on it. This includes safety-by-design research, architecture and design audits, participatory testing and design strategies for the development of resilient, privacy-focused tools.
